The HIGHLAND Retreat
A COSY winter escape to the wild heart of the Cairngorms
november 27th - 30th
from £1000-£1200 | Near Aviemore, Scotland
Join me this winter in the Scottish Highlands for a retreat steeped in nature, in a truly special setting. We’ll be based at a beautifully converted Edwardian shooting lodge, filled with open fireplaces, a cosy kitchen, and that wonderfully quirky old-world charm that makes you feel instantly at home.
We’ll start each day with awakening yoga in the heated barn, before heading out to explore the wild landscapes of the Cairngorms. Expect bracing, morning walks through this beautiful corner of Scotland, with afternoons left open for whatever you need most - perhaps a slow wander down to the riverside sauna, a quiet moment by the water, or simply curling up with a book beside the fireplace.
Welcome in the change in seasons - this is time to reconnect, a chance to slow down, and embrace the magic of winter in the mountains.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Accommodation | 3 nights accommodation, staying at Inshriach House - located on the River Spey, the house sits in a 200 acre estate in the Cairngorms National park, surrounded by forests and mountains. Originally built in 1906 by the Blacks family, the house retains its old-world charm with roaring open fires, period furniture, and a beautiful farmhouse kitchen.
Bedrooms are either private (double or single bed), or shared (twin room), and bathrooms are shared amongst all guests; there are 3 upstairs and 1 downstairs. You might find yourself staying in Mrs. Black’s room, Mr. George’s room, or the maid’s room!
Breakfast, lunch & dinner | All meals will be prepared for us by Ross, our talented & experienced retreat chef - cooking up a storm in the kitchen with seasonal, local produce & creative flavours. Meal times are always a highlight; a place to chat, share, gather together and unfold the happenings of the day around the kitchen table.
Explore the Cairngorms | From gentle woodland walks through the estate grounds surrounding the lodge to exploring deeper into the Cairngorms, there’ll be space to move, breathe, and reconnect with the landscape around you. Crisp morning meanders in the mountains invite you to slow down and soak in the wild beauty of this corner of Scotland.
Yoga | I’ll be guiding you through your practice, morning and evening! The beauty of Yoga on a retreat is that you can dive a little deeper. Awakening functional flows to start the day, with breath centric focus to energise our body, and restorative goodness after days exploring, to revitalise and heal. We’ll move together, grounding and opening, and leaning into new spaces within.
All levels of yoga practitioner are welcome.
Inshriach Distillery | Inshriach has an on-site, award winning distillery, and a quirky bar, where we’ll have the option of spending a tasting evening.
Sauna | A short stroll from the house, on the banks of the River Spey, is our log-house sauna. You’ll have the opportunity to engage in heat therapy in the afternoons, easing muscles, and taking time to decompress - landing into alignment with the rhythm of nature.

Retreat Testimonials
“Driftwood Retreat delivered everything I hoped for & more. Emily’s attention to detail and balance of yoga, walks, meditation, delicious meals, sauna, stunning place, lovely people and even a swim … in November! Thanks Emily & team & all the other Retreaters! X”.
~ Morag, The Driftwood Retreat 2025
“Spending time in a space held by Emily is more than a treat. Every detail is thought of in order for us to feel comfortable, at ease and content. Her choice in location, activities and food is amazing - not to mention the many outstanding yoga classes she led. This Cornish retreat made me laugh, cry, get out of my comfort zone and quiet my ego. It even got me in inversions and swimming in a freezing cold river! A pleasure to share time and energy with such a generous soul, as well as all the others who gravitate around her to make this such a warming experience. Can’t thank you enough Emily! Xx”.
~ Lena, The Rainforest Retreat 2023
“I was fortunate to attend a 4 day yoga retreat with Emily in the French Alps. Emily's attention to detail is excellent. In addition to being a first class Yoga instructor she puts everyone at ease. Along with yoga, walking in the hills allowed us to interact with nature, chat, laugh and generally enjoy a nice pace of life. Emily combines true professionalism with kindness and a joy for life that is infectious. Join her yoga on line and find out for yourself”.
