“You are not in the mountains, the mountains are within you.” - John Muir.
My name is Emily Ruth, but you can call me Em.
Let me start by saying I genuinely love what I do, and to have the opportunity to share that with others is like all of my wildest dreams coming true. I’m a mountain girl, it pulses through my veins. Being near these immense masses of Earth that have formed in all of their beauty over time, yet even now are constantly changing, is a daily reminder for me to stay grounded whilst allowing myself to shift and change too, and become who I am.
No body is perfect, and it’s taken me a while to realise that, and that’s ok. I try and live my best life, and be the greatest version of myself, and whilst sometimes I succeed, I don’t always - it’s all about finding balance. I believe being kind to yourself is just as important as being kind to others. From your external actions, to your internal thoughts and emotions; learn about yourself each step of the way and hold yourself accountable for the life you choose to live - believe in the law of attraction.
I teach how I would like to be taught, with thoughtfulness in my mind, and love in my heart. Each day I try to come to my mat open to the endless possibilities that are before me and I invite you to do so too. Stepping on to your mat at the beginning of class I hope that you feel as though you are entering a safe space, and over time as we practice together, you will become more attuned to your own inner world. Being present in the moment and being with the people and energies that are surrounding us, I encourage you to listen to your internal gauge and find what feels good for you.
This Winter in Morzine…
I’ve returned to Morzine, a small ski town in the French Alps. My passion for the mountains has led me on travels around the World, learning and exploring Yoga in Queenstown, training in the Himalayas in India, teaching in Morzine, Whistler and Fernie, and now returning to France to continue my Yoga journey.
When I first found Yoga, I didn’t truly know what it was I was looking for, if anything. Like many people, I was drawn to Yoga for the physical benefits of the body - I also love to go upside down and it seemed like that might be included! But a change happened. A shift within. A subtle change on my outlook in life. The way I respond to certain situations, the way I come to the decisions I make, a mindfulness that wasn’t there before. The practice of Yoga drew me in and became a part of my life.
Since then, I have delved in deeper looking for more out of this ancient practice, and what I have found is that the benefits are unlimited. So whatever you’re looking for out of it, be open, allow yourself to explore, and enjoy the journey no matter where you’re at!
I completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification in Darjeeling, India under Sonam Dukpa at Himalayan Yoga Bliss, November 2016. I have since completed my 18 hour Yoga Therapy Ball Training with Francesca Poorten in Fernie, Canada, as well as continued my learning regularly through attending workshops.
